Lip Flip, Russian Lips, Cannula: A Comparison

A full and sensual lip volume has long been a sought-after beauty ideal. Fortunately, there are various methods available today to give the lips an optimal shape. Three popular options include lip flip with Botox, treatment with a needle, the best known example being Russian Lips with pronounced lip volume and lip treatment with a blunt cannula. Each of these techniques has specific advantages and disadvantages, which we'll look at in more detail in this article.

Lip flip with Botox:

Lip flip with Botox is a non-surgical treatment in which small amounts of botulinum toxin are injected into the upper (possibly also the lower) lip muscles. This causes the lips to tilt outwards a bit and visually increases lip volume. It is important to note that the lip flip does not significantly increase volume, but rather improves lip shape.

advantages:

Minimally invasive

Low risk of side effect

Natural result with a subtle change in lip shape.

Disadvantages:

Not suitable for customers who want dramatic results.

The effect lasts about three to four months, after which a new treatment is required.

Treatment with needle and hyaluronic acid :

This is a technique that uses hyaluronic acid fillers to improve lip volume and contour. In contrast to lip flip, this method aims to create clearly visible volume yet natural fullness.

In the so-called Russian Lips, most of the volume is injected into the middle third of the lip with the aim of forming a more heart-shaped mouth.

advantages:

Offers a significant increase in volume for more noticeable results.

Improves lip contours and symmetry

Longer lasting effect compared to lip flip, usually six to twelve months.

Disadvantages:

The treatment requires injections, which is why the lip is anesthetized beforehand with a local anesthetic.

Because this method requires multiple injections, swelling or bruising is common, although it is usually mild and temporary.

lip treatment with cannula:

Lip treatment with a cannula also uses hyaluronic acid filler, but the injections are made through a special, rounded cannula instead of a needle. The cannula offers several benefits as it reduces the risk of bruising and swelling and allows the filler to be distributed more evenly.

advantages:

Reduced risk of pain, bruising, and swelling

Even distribution of the filler for a more harmonious result.

Long-lasting effect, comparable to needle filler treatment.

Disadvantages:

This treatment should only be performed by experienced doctors.

Overall, all three treatments offer a way to improve the appearance of the lips, but the choice depends on individual needs, preferences and the desired result. It is advisable to arrange a detailed consultation with an experienced aesthetic doctor before treatment.
